When you sprite the poses of an enemy, skin, etc.'s front (or back or side. Something that isn't given), do you have to draw it yourself? I'm not good at that kinda stuff....at all, so it'd really help if people sprited some of the enemies for me. I'm comfortable with my coding abilities, but I'm iffy on spriting.
Unfortunately, yes. The original game you take the sprite from will provide your X3X7 (it's the 90° angle) basis.
You'll have to draw the 0°, 45°, 135° and 180° sprite yourself. With your Paint pencil :3.
At first glance, it may seem awfully hard to make the sprites looking like each other with real rotation logic, but some time it won't be that hard. 3 situations :
- Most lucky one : 90% of the work will be already drawn in the X3X7 angle and you'll be easily able to create the eyes, mouth, etc, to another angle, like here. It's Magnet Dood's spriting (page 3 of this forum).
- On the other cases, you'll need pixel art learning, and some intuition to place the pixels. Sometime, you just can't edit the basis, it may even call for entire respriting.
- Finally, the hardest one, but don't worry there won't be any situations like that as long as you have a basis sprite : creating a custom sprite from scratch.
tl;dr : yes

That sucks, but thanks. Anyways, if anyone that wants to start spriting the MM3 enemies, keep in mind that I'm doing Elec'n right now, so don't worry about that one. The ones I'll probably need are: Dozer Hat (aka Dozer Met), Shock Traps (electric moving circles on the ground), and Nuts (MM3 tellies)

The only enemies I can think you are talking about are
Nuts = Bolton and Nutton http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Bolton_and_Nutton
Dozer Hat = Pickelman Bull http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Picket_Man#Pickelman_Bull
Shock Traps = Electric Gabyoall http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Spine#Electric_Gabyoall

Shock Traps (electric moving circles on the ground)
I didn't really feel like this guy needed rotations but whatever.

That should be everything you need, right?  The lightning effects can be copy-pasted as needed, and I didn't feel the need to add the alternate palette because quite frankly it's so simple.
1/3.  If I finish another I'll edit this post.

EDIT:

Ignore the random floating tire.  I did all I could but the Back-Right still kind of sucks.
2/3.  Now someone else do Nutton and Bolton, because I am not slogging through all 34 frames of his.

Now that you mention it, the Electric Gabyoall rotations WERE kinda unnecessary I feel like a complete ass., but since they've been made, I'll use them. Thanks!

EDIT: How should I make the Elec'n behave? Because right now, I'm planning to make it similar to the flying shell.

EDIT2: I finished the normal sprites for the elec'n, but this being my first ever spriting ANYTHING on MM8BDM, I wanted to hear your guys's opinions

To be blunt:

The front and back are pretty atrocious. The plugs look OK, but his prongs are all messed up and his face... euuuuuuuuugh

Side and Back Right are pretty good. I could probably make the front and back better for you if you wish.

I'm fairly certain LlamaHombre made the Elec'n as a skin once, but removed it due to *dunno*.

There were rotation issues up the ass and the blue/cyan broke on half of the frames.

I could still provide it if you want to build off it, but other than that I don't intend on doing more work with it.

Sprited a couple of MM5 enemies for people's use. I know that a Bomb Thrower might already exist, but I learned that after I finished, so nyeh.

Yeah he does, but not rock thrower so woo!

Yea, I'd like to see how someone else would do it. Go for it!

After fooling around in paint for 10 minutes I came up with this. Sorry if the white on the front looks wrong.

Added a grey background because MS Paint is a jerk when it comes to transparencies.

I like those prongs and face better, actually. Thanks.

EDIT: I can't seem to figure this out. I have 4 problems as of now with the Picketmanbull: 1.) He hovers across mid-air even when I have the -NOGRAVITY flag on him. Granted he doesn't fly vertically like Yambos, but he's not affected by gravity and if you go on a plain lower then him, he hovers right over you in place, leading me to my second problem. 2.) I don't want him to follow the player, but he does anyways. I'm guessing this may be a default function of the See State, but I didn't do A_Chase or anything, so I'm stumped. 3.) The "EnemyDozer" damagetype is supposed to send you backwards if hit by it. I set up the damagetype for EnemyDozer correctly; I tested it with a monster that shot projectiles and it gave me the desired outcome. However, when I try to do this with the picketmanbull's melee attack, nothing happens, so instead of flying backwards, you sit there and get raped. 4.) The 4th thing is the hitbox. I need it to follow the Picketmanbull where ever he goes, but I have no clue how. And if I did (and this is not as big of a problem because I'm sure I'd find something), I don't know exactly what command I'd use to kill the picketmanbull if the hitbox is killed. I'm leaving whatever code I have on Picketmanbull right now (yes, I know, it's nowhere near finished.)

Code: [Select]
actor Picketmanbull : GenericRobot 30021
{
MONSTER
+INVULNERABLE
-NOGRAVITY
+DROPOFF
Height 128
Radius 16
Health 30
Obituary "%o was run over by a PicketmanBull"
damagetype "EnemyDozer"
dropitem "WeaponEnergy", 64
dropitem "SmallHealth", 64
scale 2.5
Speed 10
fastspeed 30
States
{
Spawn:
TNT1 A 0 A_ChangeFlag("NOGRAVITY",0)
TNT1 A 0
TNT1 A 0 ACS_ExecuteAlways(400,0)
TNT1 A 0 A_SpawnItemEx("PicketmanBullHitbox",0,0,70,0,0,0,0,SXF_NOCHECKPOSITION|SXF_TRANSFERTRANSLATION,0)
Look:
PBUL A 0 A_Stop
PBUL A 4 A_LookEx(LOF_NOSOUNDCHECK,0,0,0,360,"See")
Goto Look+1
See:
PBUL A 0 A_ChangeVelocity(12.0, 0.0, 0.0, CVF_RELATIVE|CVF_REPLACE)
PBUL A 1 A_CustomMeleeAttack(20,"","","EnemyDozer")
loop
Death:
PBUL A 0 A_Pain
PBUL A 0 A_Fall
PBUL A 0 A_ChangeFlag("NOGRAVITY",1)
MMFX BCDE 3
stop
Despawn:
PBUL A 0
stop
}
}

I know I'm asking a lot from you guys, but I don't want to give this up yet. Contributing to MM8BDM is something I've wanted to do for awhile, but when it comes to coding, being familiar with the different commands, flags, etc. is necessary, so thanks for hanging in there :D

I'd just like to say that if people can supply the enemies, I might try my hand at one of these maps.
I would have the same thing here. I have tried, and I learned that I can't sprite accurately.

If I had to take a shot at your hovering problem, I'd probably have to say that it's either the fact you put no gravity in the coding or the change velocity is all messed up.

But, to be honest, PMB never actually went off of a platform. He turned around when he hit a ledge. Thus, putting a BLOCKMONSTER on the front and back linedefs of the platform he's on would easily solve the problem. Then again, I've never coded anything before, so I couldn't tell you what to do.

On a personal note, he should definitely recive more than just 30 health. I'd give it the same health as Pickleman Dada from MMIIIGB (70) to make him not as weak.

As for Sparky, I'd suggest him shooting a stunning shot every so often like Spark Shock to make him a little less like the Flying Shell. It could make him especially devious when it comes to platforming and pairing him up with other enemies.

aslo I still need help coding my monsters
