I have ascended to my true form GameXplainPlusB
inner workings of game mechanics shall be revealed to all
(click to show/hide)
[1:50:59 PM] SmashMan: I just noticed
[1:51:06 PM] SmashMan: in the new Mighty No. 9 footage?
[1:51:12 PM] SmashMan: Beck shoots -diagonally downward-
[1:51:19 PM] SmashMan: he can aim his buster
[2:02:19 PM] Sam: there's new footage?
[2:02:47 PM] SmashMan: hi Sam
[2:02:48 PM] SmashMan:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1iEFfOBP1o
[2:02:50 PM] SmashMan: eat this pls
[2:03:50 PM] Sam: oooh!
[2:04:01 PM] Sam: the HUD looks neat
[2:04:14 PM] Sam: and im liking the x-esque sliding
[2:04:30 PM] SmashMan: it's an air dash
[2:04:38 PM] SmashMan: which makes it automatically better than X
[2:04:38 PM] Sam: oh wait, that dash is hurting them too?
[2:04:44 PM] Sam: that's pretty cool too
[2:04:56 PM] Sam: the combo system seems interesting as well
[2:05:02 PM] Sam: but
[2:05:08 PM] Sam: x could air dash with upgrades
[2:05:51 PM] Sam: and I think without upgrades past X4 correct me if im wrong
[2:07:10 PM] Crystal King: Nope.
[2:07:12 PM] Crystal King: Zero could
[2:07:13 PM] Crystal King: not X
[2:08:15 PM] Crystal King: X needed armors to be able to do so.
[2:10:44 PM] Tex / Jman: oh wow
[2:10:53 PM] Tex / Jman: that demo looks fucking sexy
[2:11:10 PM] Tex / Jman: I thought that the game would just be hand drawn sprite graphics
[2:11:13 PM] Tex / Jman: BUT THAT LOOKS EVEN BETTER
[2:11:14 PM] SmashMan: I immediately went into auto-pilot and searched the forum for a Beck skin >_>
[2:13:02 PM] SmashMan: INAFKING
[2:14:31 PM] Tex / Jman: oh, and the best part?
[2:14:36 PM] Tex / Jman: it's going to be on literally every platform
[2:14:47 PM] Tex / Jman: well, except smartphones, but fuck that
[2:15:00 PM] SmashMan: I legit laughed at the end of the video
[2:15:05 PM] SmashMan: with all the consoles on it
[2:15:34 PM] SmashMan: EVERY COMPUTER OS
[2:15:34 PM] SmashMan: EVERY MODERN PLAYSTATION
[2:15:34 PM] SmashMan: XBOX 360 -AND- XBOX ONE
[2:15:34 PM] SmashMan: YO I HEARD YOU LIKE NINTENDO
[2:16:16 PM] Tex / Jman: lolwut
[2:16:59 PM] SmashMan: Win / Mac / Linux
[2:16:59 PM] SmashMan: PS3 / PS4 / PS Vita
[2:16:59 PM] SmashMan: XBOX360 / XBOX One
[2:16:59 PM] SmashMan: 3DS / Wii U
[2:17:23 PM] Tex / Jman: well it's on every modern platform
[2:17:27 PM] Tex / Jman: so there's no excuse to not get it
[2:19:10 PM] Tex / Jman: all these silly folks complaining about the dash...
[2:19:42 PM] Tex / Jman: the particle effect on it is pretty meh, but I like the way it works
[2:19:45 PM] Crystal King: "THAT WASN'T IN ORIGINAL MEGAMAN"
[2:20:13 PM] Tex / Jman: ...that's because it's not megaman
[2:20:18 PM] Tex / Jman: you have to remember that, rabid fans
[2:20:57 PM] SmashMan: okay I see how the dash works now
[2:21:35 PM] SmashMan: enemies are only defeated if you absorb their power core; the theme of absorbing cores was mentioned in a Mighty Becker update on the Kickstarter
[2:22:08 PM] SmashMan: you can see the missile robot at about 0:37 turn blue and expose its core, but after a second it gets its missile shooter back and continues to attack Beck
[2:22:24 PM] Crystal King: destroy the core
[2:22:37 PM] SmashMan: blue cores don't do anything besides increase Beck's score and "chain"
[2:22:51 PM] SmashMan: but the colored cores give Beck temporary timed power-ups, shown under his HP
[2:23:14 PM] SmashMan: red cores allow Beck's shots to pass through multiple enemies, and green cores increase Beck's ground movement speed
[2:23:24 PM] SmashMan: I can't tell what the other cores do from the video, unfortunately
[2:24:02 PM] SmashMan: cores also give you more points (and ability time) the faster you grab them from when they were first exposed
[2:24:15 PM] SmashMan: you can't tell at first since all of the cores show a 100% collect rate
[2:24:52 PM] SmashMan: but at 0:50 the robots blown up by the explosive containers show 70% and 60%
[2:25:14 PM] SmashMan: since Beck waits a little bit for the explosion to dissipate before collecting the cores
[2:25:27 PM] SmashMan: GameXplainPlusB

You know, I was hoping Mighty No 9 was going to be taken a bit more seriously compared to Mega Man. The design made me think of a mix between Classic and X series influences. But no, it's actually more ridiculous than Mega Man. Way more ridiculous than I would of hoped for.

An animated series? This sounds interesting. I wonder if it net only or... Yeah probably net only.

It seems to be an anime for children/cartoon 3D style....? I hope the story will be nice at least.....
I would prefer a manga style :/ (like the fan opening of Megaman gigamix, not pro but very cool).
At least, Inafune works' ....
But 100 000? Actually, i dont have a lot of money, i wont give money for that....(but i think, there is a potential for this anime, i hope the graphism wont be dumb' x)

I'm not passing any judgement until both the game comes out and the TV series airs. I'm optimistic for both.

Likewise. Like I said about Sonic Boom, I'm willing to give them a chance.

I like the style a lot, heheh. But yeah, they should have released the game before announcing something like this. It makes them seem... Desperate or something.
EDIT: But hey, note that the bad guys are apparently attacking humans.

They'd better bring in Ruby Spears to help saturate it with cheesy 90's cartoon goodness
Wonder what station it'll air on if it comes stateside. I can't imagine Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon picking up this kind of series.
