For the few of you who played with Halloween 2012's mod and use OpenGL, you will remember that everything in the game was shrouded in darkness. This was due to special lighting effects I added into the mod in an effort to make the game prettier.

The following changes were made to the lighting effects:
    Darkness effects are now based on the console variable GL_LIGHTS. If this variable is set to 0, no change to light levels will be displayed.
    Darkness effects can be changed while in game, the change fades so it doesn't look sloppy.
    Maps can opt out use of the darkness now.
    Player shadows removed because they look bad in light levels below 255 and did weird things to shields.

Note to mappers:
If you want your map to ignore this OpenGL-based light mechanic, then you would want to place the following script into your scripts lump.

Could you please make it so that the Dark Citadel ignores the lighting? Because last time, the darkness kinda ruined the awesome outside view (with the falling meteors) in one part of the map.

Also VirtualSonic, don't forget that side sprite.  The hair is inconsistent.  I know the original helmetless skin does that, but that's still not correct.

What part of the legs do you mean? I changed the walk legs back to normal Mega Man legs considering his and Simon's walks are a little too similar to deserve a change.
You need to tell me specifically what I'm aiming for so I know exactly, I can't just GUESS something without actually knowing and then fixing something that didn't even NEED fixing.

Yeah, you might as well give up, VS. Korby just will not want to accept a barely edited Mega Man edit, and it makes sense thinking so. You are going to have to make it radically different for him to have no way of saying no without passing off as a complete douchebag about it.

Change the idle frames, the walking animations, and the general design of the skin. Just the firing frames won't do

My problem with it at the moment is the hurt poses. Look at his legs. When he is rotated, his other leg should not lift up, it should be the same one.

In the Front/R, H8H2, 3/4ths, Front facing Diagonal hit pose his right leg is lifted up. In the Back/R, H6H4, other 3/4ths, Back facing Diagonal hit pose[/u], his left leg is lifted up. It should be his right leg, not his left leg.
I would make an illustration for you, but I am not at home.

This is the same information I gave in my original response worded slightly differently. Does this satisfy you?

Just mentioning that I sent my map through Skype. It might still be updated but for now it's the first final draft, and I'll only be changing things that need to be changed, or maybe adding another prop/gimmick.

I dislike nested quotes...as hilarious as they can be sometimes, it just clutters the thread.

I never thought of that...but I was mainly thinking of refining that lava area you were complaining looked bad with the darkness [Which, it does. But that can be adjusted, which is why I'm against outright removal of the darkness.]

I will get to work on this as soon as possible...apparently my tablet doesn't like the idea of having Doom Builder downloaded onto it, in spite of OpenGL working just fine on it, so I suppose I won't be able to work on it while away from home very easily...
But yeah. I'll start work on it soon.


Also...in hindsight...it might have been better to have this discussion in PMs considering how much more cluttered this conversation is making the thread.

Musashi, why would I just "give up"? Is that REALLY the answer to everything? Give up? NO! You gotta try the hardest you can, only when it's something TRULY impossible should you even CONSIDER giving up. What are you, Mr. Give Up? Do you give up? I try NOT to give up.
Korby said he wants me to complete it, so it MEANS something.
And making it different can be rather bad, this is JUST A COSTUME. I mean hell, look at all the Rolls out there, are they truthfully different? No! They are just COSTUMES. Why would you change a character so much just because they sport some new clothes that probably are either alternate clothes or are an existing character's clothes.
Imagine yourself, say you were to go out for Halloween as uhh.... whatever you want really. Would you really stand, walk, and act really different JUST because you're dressed up as said person? No you wouldn't! You'd just be yourself for the most part, unless you really are into the roleplaying thing I see quite a number of people doing.

Look at Mega Man's original hurt sprites in the core MM8BDM, while I'm trying not to be completely consistent with what he originally has, I also wanna try to keep it consistent at the same time. All traditions that are in his original skin will be in this skin, unless Cutman Mike really has plans to change.
