VirtualSonic, the problem with that is, is it still looks sloppy, even IF the original skin did it that way.  Just because there are inconsistencies with the original, doesn't mean it needs to be on sprites based on it.  You can still fix the inconsistencies and still have it based on the original skin, you shouldn't carry over stuff like that anyway.

I don't want to sound like I'm dissing the original sprites here, so I apologize if it comes out that way.

EDIT: Or completely disregard this because of my inability to read and see that someone above me already pointed this out.

Hi, not really sure how you contribute a character without spoiling it to everyone, but I've made a special Halloween skin for Spook Girl in a most imaginative and creepy costume:

(click to show/hide)
Click only if you are part of the Halloween project, dare to see it, or if you wanna spoil it for yourself.

Had ideas on a map, but can't map, and don't think I'd learn to make a good one in time.

I love you forever, Rukifellth.

VS, just change what I mentioned about the legs and I'll accept it.

Lego helped me fix the lighting bug my map had when loaded with the halloween.pk3 from last year, and I took the chance to fix an issue within the map which kinda broke gameplay in one area. I'm going to wait and see if I have to make more changes so I don't have to resubmit the map more than I need to.

And because this is once a year, might as well include Time Stopper to troll the hell out of everybody, kekekeke.

I mean hell, look at all the Rolls out there, are they truthfully different? No! They are just COSTUMES. Why would you change a character so much just because they sport some new clothes that probably are either alternate clothes or are an existing character's clothes.
While I'm not entirely happy with different PU Roll skins today, some of them did have legitimately different animations and frames between costumes. Sports Roll, Vacation Roll and Ninja Roll all have unique running animation. Straw Roll has different hair, and all of the skins have unique firing animations.

While it's not always that necessary to change the build of a character for a costume, since it's still the same character, you do want to change the animations and frames a bit to make the skin more unique. Take Magneto Man, my contest submission from earlier this year, as an example. He's edited off of Magnet Man, but he stands differently, moves differently and attacks differently, all to properly give him the atmosphere and feel of the character he's cosplaying. If I left all of his animations in tact and just made slight edits, the skin would be a lot less interesting.

You completely just dodged my other question, but regardless. MOST of the Rolls I've seen and even most of the recent Skin Contest skins were basically just costumes.
Regardless, I did fix what Korby told me to do.

Will this finally do ya, Korby?

your other question seemed incredibly rhetorical and also aimed at musashi.

that, and kapus already answered it.

yes, this is fine. put it in a pk3 and pm it to me.

As I said, I'm not too happy with the Roll skins I made for that reason (amongst others). My point is that costume skins should strive to be a little different. A lot of the contest skins were also pretty lazily done, but is that any reason to be lazy yourself? Don't bake a bad cake just because everyone else is baking one when you could instead bake a much better cake.

So I decided to toy around with that Rock Belmont and change it a bit, and I noticed a few things:

Looking back, I saw my take on Rock Belmont is far more based off Trevor Belmont's design, while yours is based off Simon Belmont's.

There are some small details that don't make sense sometimes. I mean random pixels thrown in some places that don't correlate to Simon's sprite design, save for his hair: Simon Belmont has long hair (which isn't shown on your  design), while Trevor kind of does but holds it back with a bandanna.

The back frames show him having two belts, when Simon only has one.

The hurt frames look more like Trevor's than Simon's. Simon Belmont weirdly covers his face when hurt, while Trevor doesn't. To be more precise, Simon looks down and to the side, while Trevor just looks down but you can stll see his face.

EDIT: Just so you guys know, I won't be releasing a Mega Man edit as my first skin ever. At least not unless I come up with something special for it.

Some stuff regarding Rock Belmont
I don't wanna change the hair because I don't think Mega Man would really wanna grow hair that fast, that and Simon doesn't really have long hair it's just the sprite trying to trick you.
For the hurt sprite, yes... I know.
And for the belt, there's only one, it's just the direction of the sprite having me do such a thing, that and I was viewing the Simon sprite you see in the intro for reference to the Back/R and Back sprites.

Oh sorry, brainshat, it happens sometimes. I just wasn't focusing on who typed out the messages.
And I'll make the .pk3 sometime tonight because I gotta go somewhere for a few hours as of right now.

At this rate, you'll be gone forever in a matter of a couple of posts.Welp never mind, never knew brainshat was a different way of saying brainfart. Move along, now.

At any rate, I kind of finished the Mega Man edit aspect of my Rock Belmont. Now I've been thinking of ways to make the skin actually different...

The idea I kind of liked is to redesign the idle frames' stance both to match Simon's stance AND to match the 3rd running frames and give an illusion of Simonwalking. You know, like how the NES Belmonts looked funny when walking because one of their movement frames was just the idle frame coupled with the other exclusive two movement frames, so there was a strange transtition between standing and moving. This would require to change the order the running frames are placed by default, switching the places of the 1st set of frames and the 3rd set of frames around. I think it'll be easier to understand when I show you what I mean.

Brainshat as in brainfart, like "oh damn it slipped my mind"

Also I'm so sorry this is happening again with the whole Halloween delays and crap - I'll try to push something out for the release date but I completely forgot about this with all the sidesteps and work I've had throughout the last couple of weeks

By the power of four horses..

.. and a whale..

I finally got off my lazy behind, turned the sprites into a skin, and sent it in.

Hello everyone, I'd like to announce that my CutMan Vorhees (If you don't remember I posted something about it last year) is almost finished, it will be done most likely today or tomorrow.
