Musashi and Kapus speak the truth. I, for one, just look at Doomseeker, see that the populated MM8BDM servers are split between Saxton, Classes Saxton, not jumpmaze Obstacle Course and maybe some RP dudes bragging about their sexual prowess, just go "eh" and start up Spiral Knights.

Like I said before, "core members" is whatever you make of it
Sorry man, but I don't think an undefined term helps your point.

@Balrog
The main question at hand is whether you (and Musashi, and Kapus, and everyone else that shares that opinion) would feel the same if the servers were all empty instead.

@Knux
It's the best way to go about the discussion, but I digress. Let's define "Core members" as players who have a solid presence on the forums, then. These discussions usually crop up around here.

I'd feel a little similar, yes, but in that situation I'd also be concerned as to why people aren't playing the game period, and I'd try to figure out how to bring life back to the scene (map packs, events, etc.).

I'd say I have a solid presence, I'm online pretty much 24/7 and have released one bad class pack (though I'm going to try and ignore it now), another unfinished one, have plans for other mods, and have been active in a good number of threads. Now, back to the main topic about servers, I say all we need is something to knock Saxton out (though I do enjoy Vanilla Saxton), something with creative or fun gameplay.

I should have more time to play now, since I'm done with my recent business. Still have to study a bit, but since I'm ahead of the game now, I could probably squeeze in some more games.

Long story short, this game is stale. I like the game, and I appreciate the work gone into it. But lets face it, it's getting stale. Sure, a new version will come out and everyone will play it for what, a few days at most? Then right back down to the depths.

Every attempt to keep the game alive; Map packs, mapping competitions, Olympics, tournaments, you name it, has pretty much succeeded for a week at most (or less) then died.

I haven't played since before the most recent update, but I've personally been really busy with work.

My interest in the game continues to decline. Every single day I encounter someone talking about Classes Saxton Hale. It just makes me sick every time to hear that. I personally want a break from SH myself, but people are no longer interested in mods like Rage Roboenza, Mafia, Bot Apoc, some of those others...I am considering at this point just being inactive in the community, unless Classes Saxton overnight just dies out completely, which will not happen, of course.

We could get some duels going on mm1fir or mm1cut, if you want, tailsmk4.  :lol:

All joking aside, we need a commitment to play some more game modes. Maybe we should consider nominating a day each week for specific game modes. DM, possession, team DM, CTF, and all that good stuff.

I decided I would host some vanilla modes. Right now I've got LMS, Team LMS, and CTF up. I can take requests, as long as it isn't Classes related. Maybe I should bump my old server thread to serve this purpose...

I also wish there were more people playing mods like Roboenza.........That's actually my favorite mod, to be honest. However, we can't just complain, plenty of the people who like SH also like some of these mods, we just have to let them know that people want to play them and they could very well be going over to the server. Of course, many will decline, but we can't just sit here and complain.

Also, one of the main reasons no one is playing Roboenza could be that the only server of it up is Swarm, which no one likes as far as I know

I'm going to quote the X7 OP (Code Crush) for this:

Oh look another thread that says the game is dying but people are playing it.

Why is this a Bi-Monthly thing.
It's just the same core "idea" where all we do is discuss how to bring the game back but never do because noone has motivation.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
People are playing a mod of MM8BDM. In essence, this is playing the game.
-insert Knux's bad sand juice metaphor here-
We're not dying, we're still alive and kicking.

I might've sounded like an ass but I'm being serious, this really is a bi-monthly, if not monthly topic.
