So any sort of game footage, audio, or anything will no longer be allowed on YouTube?!

Welp, there goes my 3 only videos, as well as 60% of my favourites.

And what about channels like Nintendo? From what I heard, this turd of an "update" affects everybody.

EDIT: Wait, nothing copyrighted at all?

Welp, there goes 39% of my favourites, as well as all 100+ YTPs I have in my own playlist.

The remaining 1% consists of asdf movie, and this thing.

Hoooly fucking shit, really?
Jesus, they really are just a few steps away from screwing all of our mothers...

Well bollocks, I was planning on actually making crappy let's plays sometime in the future too, but I guess not anymore!

People just simply won't be able to get approval on every game or show or whatever they make videos of. Nobody except for the bigwigs, like Gamespot and IGN, and all those guys who can just hire people to do it all for them. But for the little people like us, we're screwed. Especially if we dabble in companies that're really touchy about everything copyright related, however trivial it is...

Guys, I know I'm totally contradicting myself from earlier by saying this, and it pains me to say so, but... we gotta move. We need another site to post our shit on.

It's one of the most hopeful things I've said in years, but we gotta get outta here. The only plan I have is that everyone posts their stuff on other sites, advertise said stuff by posting super short videos with links in the description on Nazitube, and then hopefully, in the years to come, everybody else will copy meus and move on themselves.
And yeah, I'm totally gonna do this too. I'm not gonna be one of those internet tough guys who "quits the internets forever" and then comes back a few days later. I'm joining my own borderline-spite-filled movement, at least until things brighten up again.
Well, once I start making shiz, anyway.

Youtube's kinda looking like the Titanic at the moment. 'Twas the fanciest ship of its time, but that iceberg's around the corner, and this ain't the movie with magical rapping dogs, or talking dolphins.

Welp, with all that said, unless things change for the better, or we're all exaggerating to hell and back, this is for you, Youtube. Whether we move elsewhere or not.

Well. SOMEONE is doing something stupid at Google. I really don't get why they would be doing all this crap.

Well if people are making money for basically selling a product without permission...
Personally, I think the video game footage ban thingy doesn't make much sense - even if it's monetized, it's still free advertisement. Not to mention a person who recorded the footage and owns the game in question theoretically owns the rights to that particular clip of footage.

...Ah well. I guess we'll see where this takes us. All you have to remember is that Google is a company, and like any company, they are trying to make money. If they are getting sued by every corporation under the sun, do you think they're making very much? [This example is negating the fact that they are Google and making tons of it anyways] This is kind of a way for Google to cover their butts and make Youtube what it was supposed to be originally - about home movies and stuff...at least that's how I read the label.
And hey, there is always Twitch~

It just seems kind of strange to partner up with a whole bunch of people who do exactly that, then put in a thing that doesn't let them do it anymore.

Honestly, since I read that, it didn't seem as frighting as I initially thought.

So just people who are making money from the material? Oh, okay then.

Well there's a chance, but then there's also a chance that nothing will be spared.
Only time will tell what will happen.

Quote from: "Me in another topic"
Many of you have probably heard of Youtube cracking down again on copyrights, mostly affecting gaming channels, network based and non networked based. Most disturbingly, this change allows any copyright enforcement company to automatically search videos for content, then flag the video for a copyright claim if it "violates" a copyright by using content without permission. Even if it's a few seconds of a clip of something, it can and will result in a claim. This, of course, is leading to trouble. Many gaming channels suddenly found themselves with copyright claims that were automatically claimed by Google and other 3rd parties. Angry Joe found himself with over 60 claims on some of his most viewed videos immediately after the copyright changes went into effect, and on his claims, it shows what copyright it violates, and it got quite ridiculous. His live interview with Tomb Raider got a copyright claim for using content from Tomb Raider, even though the people from tomb raider were fine with it. The penalty for these copyright claims are to pay a fine to the copyright holders, then carry on as if nothing happened.

This topic has been all over Kotaku, Youtube, and other sites, and I must say, I really think Youtube is starting to take a turn for the worst.
Also, to Ivory, who locked the topic that this was in, I thought that this topic was about the Google+ update. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It was originally for the G+ update but now it's for how YouTube is starting to suck in general.

Although one interesting thing that is becoming INCREDIBLY common with the 'judgement claim day' is false claims of music, especially tracks from people like Kevin MacLeod (whose music has been used by everyone from the Yogscast to me and is free to use provided it is given attribution). I know several YouTubers who have had companies claiming that they represent interests that own the rights to music like this and they managed to use YouTube's woefully bad ID system to nick all the ad money until the YouTuber can dispute the claim successfully.
Well then.

Looks like it's time to jump ship. Any suggestions?

Are you looking to monetize your videos? Because if you aren't, from what I've read this isn't actually taking videos down but instead directing ad revenue to the person who claims to hold the copyright. So if you were never going to get money off of the videos in the first place this may not affect you that much.
If you are, then Dailymotion I guess? To be honest it, Blip and Viddler are the three non-Youtube video sites that I know of. However, if I'm remembering right, Blip really doesn't like video game footage (LPs in particular; IIRC they did a big purge of LP channels a while back) and Viddler is dieing and might be the site that I heard was holding old accounts hostage from the creators unless they paid for the premium service or something like that. As for Dailymotion itself, apparently it has more lenient standards than Youtube and does have a monetizaton method but only gets around 1/28 the total traffic Youtube does (according to an article I found from March). Then again, I've heard of at least one large Youtube channel migrating to Dailymotion because of this situation so who knows how much more popularity Dailymotion will get in the future.

At the end of the day, the viewers aren't going to be able to make a change as a group. They're FAR too disorganized. If you want to make a change, use an Adblocker (Adblock Plus for Chrome or Firefox; if you're using IE or Safari, don't use IE or Safari). The only way a mass migration will occur is if the big Youtube channels jump ship (Love them or hate them, basically anyone over 1mil subs counts. Anyone over 10mil, or a large group like Polaris will probably cause a snowball effect.)
