A friend had pointed out to me that Google seemed to slowly degrade YouTube... First they gave you the option to make your channel boring, removing your individuality and ability to modify your channel, then they started to slowly change the layout. Next thing you know, YouTube isn't just a video-sharing site, it's a full blown social network... probably did that 'cause it sells.
I'd assume that the options being removed was to make it more appealing for those who aren't computer savvy or don't understand settings/options very well.
I really don't see how removing options could be a good idea in any way. Why wouldn't they organize them better, instead? Or just hide more advanced options unless one presses a button reading "advanced options" or something.
Well that's a terrible idea. I've found a retreat in the obscure. The fact that it used to be so complicated to work with gives me the joy of figuring things out for an entire afternoon. If you modify something for the mainstream then you'll lose your sense of individuality. I've noticed that in most of the populated websites, they all look the same. The same "see more" buttons, the same interfaces; the same blank, white and grey backgrounds with very little color. Social networks are boring that way.
I actually like the other changes they've made. (as I've said prior to this post)
For some reason, now to do ANYTHING with any video in the "Favourites" playlist, you need to move the video up to be the first on the list. And you no longer can select multiple videos to do one thing at once for all of them.Nor can you automatically send all selected videos onto a new playlist.So.... yeah. Splitting up my Favourites list into multiple playlists in order to have more space went from taking under an hour to taking over a week.EDIT: And, for some even stranger reason, I cannot even to ANYTHING with any videos at spots 101 and below.
