Proposal for a regular fortnightly event PILOT AT 17:30 UTC

Since Ran's thread blew up, I'm going to post this here.

We should have an event for showcasing mods that aren't named Saxton Hale and map packs that aren't named IX-Pack or CSCM, in game modes that aren't Deathmatch. This would work like Sunday Shenanigans, with the following repeating cycle, subject to change:

Week 1:

Scan for map packs and mods that are cool
Pick one

Week 2:

Host chosen wads on BEST-EVER
???
PROFIT

Week 3:

Scan for map packs and mods that are cool
Pick a bunch of them
Start poll at the end of the week

Week 4:

Host poll-picked wads on BEST-EVER
???
PROFIT

What do you think, are you interested in being staff, what time and day should it be on, etc.

Sounds interesting, but why not have the poll for the next mod run concurrently to the hosting of the present mod? You'll double the number of mods played and not have to worry about an off-week.

Well, the idea is that this is Sunday Shenanigans for MM8BDM. SunS is fortnightly, so that's why I suggested fortnightly. (It would run on opposite weeks to SunS to avoid competition, so you'd have this on Week 1, then SunS on Week 2.) Also lightens the load on staff. If everyone in staff is down for a weekly event then we can try it and see how it goes.

This is a pretty cool suggestion, but how exactly would we decide on the mods?  Would this be a regular event, or would we eventually stop?  What if the host was unable to host for a bit?
I'd love to see this take off, though.

Eh, "The Discomfort Zone" isn't that great of a name to be honest. I was thinking something like "(day it's on) Wildcard" after one of the original name suggestions for SunS. As for "all weekend", the server will run until the next event or when BestBot garbage-collects.

And even then, it was suggested that a new thread was made for this kind of thing anyway. We just need to come up with a poll after getting some ideas.
