I think 4:36 of this vid is a perfect example of the complete hell we went through with this guy...
I can only say that a simpler way of taking this guy down in a buster run is to stay in the middle and slide for your life...

He isn't one shotting them.  By the way everything plays out in those scenes (I just had to watch them all), it's an interactive video.  So it would do that scene with him taking out his mega buster, you actually fight the boss, then the scene where he defeats the robot plays.

So whoever recorded this is probably viewing the scenes through some playback function.

Btw... fighting the yellow devil in mm1 just sucks! sometimes you cannot even hit him! and he loses 2 hp per shot... its just hell fighting him!

Hope to beat him soon though...

Busteronly-ing the Yellow Devil is just a test of endurance. Something that is yet to be seen in a modern MM game. Plus, it's not impossible; it's just a long and tedious fight.

Even Wily Machine 9 is a shorter fight compared to MM1's  buster-only Yellow Devil fight. And that Wily fight has 3 forms in a row.

Also, WILY CAPSULE 7. Now that's a fight.

I must confess I have never beaten Yellow Devil without the pause trick. he was worse in Mega Man Powered up though, especially if you were OIL MAN

Untill i saw this guy do a playtrhough of the 8bit remake. Then i followed his hints and a bit of his playstyle and now i have no trouble beating him.

(it even worked for me in the original megaman 7 for those who think it would only work for the 8bit edition)

I admit that I didn't buster only the Wily stage bosses.
I didn't know about the pause trick, but I did beat him with the Thunder Beam (just made it quicker than the buster, and i guess easier as you could get hit more often the longer you fight him).

MM7 still probably has the hardest Wily Capsule fight. Something about dodging the projectiles is hard. I only did it a few times, and that was enough to get me through it (plus E tanks and his weakness). In the times I couldn't dodge the attacks, I made sure I hit the sparky ones and not the fire ones (fire ones cause more damage).

that stupid trap....thing from megaman 2.....the one that you HAVE to use crash bombs to defeat.....HATE IT!!!!............also twin devil is a pain for me for some reason, i can only BARELY beat him, his weakness....TAKES TO LONG (even if i love the black hole bomb kicks ass)

I saw this playthrough from the devil twins and the guy paused as soon as the black hole did damage. And upon resuming you can fire again...
He managed to hit 2 times when the eye flew out.
