Haha, sure the forums are getting dusty but the players keep on truckin'. Try to convince them to come here? They probably aren't even aware that there's a GVH forum.

I can't really contribute much to the GvH discussion here anymore, I haven't played it much since it became TDM-centric and I can't stand TDM GvH.

There are certain playstyles that suit some more than others.

I know that a lot of people (including CutmanMike) hate GVH TDM - however, there's a reason why it's still, even now, being played.

GVH has a much younger audience than ye olde Doom Mod - which of course is true of many popular Skulltag mods as well but GVH proves to be no exception. These people have the attention span of 5 year olds... TLMS is something they just simply don't want to wait for. TDM is much more fast paced, and to them more entertaining. TLMS is inconvenient because there's always that creeper that's camping somewhere in the middle of the map, or that dude that just won't stop AFK'ing. As a Skulltag dev, I can tell you, the only way you will appeal to these people is to keep them entertained for a longer period of time - and make it convenient for them. TLMS can be, and often is, very boring.

People want to PLAY, not wait for the creeper to finally get caught.

TDM still isn't dominant is it? Last night I saw 4 GVH servers with people. Two LMS and two TDM, and this was just me randomly scanning servers while testing something out. Just keep your eyes on that server list.

I might as well add my own view on the TDM thing.

I actually quite like TDM so far, mostly because when you die, big deal! You respawn, and can try again! There is absolutely no fear of death, the action never ceases untill the scoreboard hits the limit, and just about everyone can contribute and join in whenever they want.

As for TLMS, i'd say that is more suited for people with patience, and has an far larger strategy factor to it (or rather a beat this camping setup or its over factor). One will have to take more care on how to approach and attack the enemy, traps are a great deal more usefull here, and just about every inch of the map can and ussually will be used to win the battle.

Each have their bad sides though... TDM is hardly fair against the humans in larger games, there's little time to set any sort of defence up, and the humans dont have as much firepower to match the ghouls in quick instant action.

Where TLMS has some above mentioned flaws, some people dislike waiting long after dieing, and the map can often be abused in the human's favour if it has any good spot to do so (trust me, if they can setup a camping base complete with traps, cyborgs, and any cheap class(es), its one hell of a challenge to smash it). Oh, some dont like the constant camping in TLMS either.

Ah well, all comes down to preference, if all else fails, join that other popular GVH server and wait for other people to join, there's always others looking for a TDM or TLMS game.

Oh, and yes, this part of the forum is INCREDIBILY dead. Thats easily fixed if Cutman ever decides to update GVH though. :P

Very, very, VERY OFTEN requested fixes! Some people utterly hate the current state of the riotgun (and im NOT talking about the people using it), for whatever reason the archivements do not always appear. And well, a fix would be nice anyway.

Trust me, the small things matter plenty too. Hmm... Not that the Riotgun is that small with its dire need of nerfing. Choke fans want their buff too, i think.
Well, i dont think anyone's gonna make any great maps for GVH in this time period, and people dislike some of the mechanics, as well as it atleast giving this forum new life by having more haters giving cutman death threats on the usual topic. :P

I'd say do it! Unless you're waiting for something thats hopefully worth waiting for.

Damn. Think i killed GVH atleast for a few hours by releasing and hosting a fix for the Yurei battle thing. :P
There's like 3 servers up with that now, mine having the most apparently. Guess they like it.

Hmm... And seems there's still a few maps being made for GVH, wether they're up to the standards or not. Havent checked that link though, i wouldnt trust anything DTD uploads with such an discription. :P

yeah i agree on that.

some players are not interested on forum of the game they plated.

i think it would be better if we make a role regarding with this.

stated that if the player doesn't visit its forum for a 1 week his account on the game will be deleted.

what did you think guys.

Forcing people to visit the forums is a horrible idea. People should want to be here... that and threatening people is even worse. Also remaking the .ini really doesn't take that much time. Annoying but not effective in the least.

I hate to be such a harsh critic, but I agree with the poster above me.

This solves absolutely no problems and creates new ones. First and foremost, it can't even be enforced, because there ARE no accounts in the game. Secondly, what the person above me said.

If anything at all, the most that should ever happen, in my opinion, is the forums be a little (but not much) more aggressively advertised with the in-game hint messages. Other than that, the necessity simply does not justify the effort.

Not to mention, GVH is over a year old now and I don't plan on introducing anything else other than some mini mods. If MM8BDM wasn't Mega Man, I'm sure it would be a similar story.

Pretty much what Cutman said. GVH is a year old, and other game mods like AOW and Zombie Horde took the crowd. How do I know? I was apart of the GVH crowd during its hay-day. I left around the time I became more active in competitive skulltag, but this correlated with the TDM scene. TDM is really a cheap thrill even among those playing it (even a few vets of my crowd don't stay after one or two games). So quite frankly, GVH TDM is what drove a lot of players away. The lack of updates as far as new content goes made people cynical as well, but isn't the huge deciding factor.

It's just what Eruanna says, lot of GVH players have low attention spans and don't want to think. I won't beat around the bush about it though. A lot of GVH players of now can't hang or never did, so they need that perpetual life to feel good when killing someone. This breaks a lot of the strategies, maps, and class balance (Remember when Chokes and Frostbites were useful in TDM? Neither do I). Last time I played TDM GVH, I got banned for, "aimbotting," which was the first time that has ever happened to me.

The crowd for the players have changed now. Everyone went off to play what is, "cool," now like Zombie Horde and that will die out too. I am a little surprised Megaman hasn't bloomed either, but that's mainly to either disinterest, lack of advertising, other mods, and so on. I love seeing this place barely active as it gives me little to work worth, but as a devotee and player I am also troubled (and I do like moderating btw).

We can all agree we had our fun, but the days of Endless Wars or Skill's 24 man to 32 man parties of Cold Demise is gone. People want to play NOW and not wait. Don't fret though, the Skulltag clan scene is pretty much a ghost-town too. It's like a signal: things are becoming less and less competitive now. And yes! I am saying TDM isn't that competitive (I think regular Deathmatch is a joke also).

As far as the forum is concerned: not many of the in-game crowd ever came here. The only people who came here are some Touhou players, myself, a few devotees, and testers. What people want to discuss was pretty much already discussed before, and a lot of GVH stuff was done to death. What else is need to be said?
