"Four years is certainly a large gap for Mega Man, which has some 129 titles to its name spanning just 25 years, but not an extraordinarily large gap for your average IP.

Even without a recent title, Mega Man has a constant presence, be it in our news reel, the Japanese investor relations site, the frequently updated Rockman Unity blog in Japan, or with frequent rereleases in the digital space. Compare to truly "sleeping" IPs like, say, Chaos Legion. There's a difference, and there's a reason there's a difference."

Well, capcom become a banal company, more realistic, bloody and zombies games, call of duty and others ok. You can do it capcom, but sell the franchise to nintendo or IDK, a company who have really the passion of the videogames and not only the mode of (too much) realistic games (only) (and mature content). Lol

Alright:
- 4 Years is a log, log time for MegaMan, particularly when you consider that a lull for MegaMan never exceeded a single year prior to 2010. BUT, as an EXTRA kick in the pants, it was lead into by the cancelation for four separate MegaMan games. (What other IP can claim that much simltainious carnage?)
- Other franchises having longer periods without any word on development does not make you seem any better. In fact, pointing it out makes you look worse.
- If you regard each MegaMan iteration as a separate series (pair when obvious, i.e. Classic and GB, Zero with X and/or ZX, BattleNetwork and StarForce), then you end up having several long dormant franchises yourself, and y'all are the ones that canceled the long and patiently awaited return of an (at the time) 11 year dormant series: MegaMan Legends.

These points are just to start. My God, they are callous. Thanks for giving me a place to get this off my chest.

Do you think, they will make new megaman games in the future (like 2016?) even if it's not a lot of megaman games?

I have like the feeling it's dead for a long time, idk, maybe im wrong. Im stressed because we didnt have a nextgen game since 2007 (Star Force 3) (not sure for the year).

I hope just some works from capcom are possible....

I very well think more Mega Man games are possible, but this constant negativity towards the company needs to go. Holding dirty water in a bucket for their botched performance of Legends 3 is just unnecessary when it happened nearly three years ago. Capcom's made a lot of effort to refine some of their policies since Legends 3, such as reviving franchises like Strider and DuckTales, and fixing common complaints through the Ultra Street Fighter IV patch option. I've never been happier to be an Ace Attorney fan, with stuff like Professor Layton x Phoenix Wright and Shu Takumi's new project on the way. Even with a couple of trips and falls along the way, I feel right in trusting Capcom with their plans for new games from both Mega Man and their other series.

Even if we don't have any new games, stuff like Mega May has shown continued support for the blue bomber and his legacy, and we've had a phenomenal run as is.

This video changed the way I think about the series and Capcom.
Thank you.

Let the fans make the Megaman games in the mean time, Capcom don't seem to mind it.

Oh well, this is just like the long break of Donkey Kong Country games that lasted from 1996 (Donkey Kong Land III 1999 if you count DK64 or 2006, if you count the DKC3 GBA port), to 2010(?) (Donkey Kong Country Returns).
Although one could argue that not even DKCR or DKC:TF are on the level of the original DKC and DKL games, the long absence of good, 1990s Rareware quality DK games is still happening

Although hopefully Mega Man won't have that long of an absence.

And hey, at least the Mega Man fans get fangames that come close (or meet) the level of quality of the actual CAPCOM games (with some exceptions)
Currently, there's only one Rareware level DKC fangame out there at the moment, and it's not even finished!

Yeah, like Megaman battle network Chrono X (i didnt follow the updates of this one) and Megaman X corrupted (who look crazy GOOD!) and some others!
There is MMEXE 4.5 translation patch but it takes too much time (they dont have enough guys to work on, it seems).

Yeah, not to mention that a lot of people had the suspicion that Capcom was aware of some upcoming titles (such as Unlimited), yet they didn't try to stop them.
But also hopefully, like Llama said in a different topic, Capcom can get out of there "freakout" state that happened when Inafune left by the time Mighty No. 9 is released.

I just watched the video posted earlier in the topic, and I must say that although I wasn't part of the so-called "Mega Man fanbase" that Clement refers to in his videos, it did open my eyes up to what was really going on. I guess part of the reason I haven't been paying attention to new games is because I don't have the money to buy new gaming consoles and portables, so I usually only heard things from the fan's perspective. The fact that I've been studying programming means that I'm having more of a view from a developer's perspective, so I understand somewhat the position Capcom is in. The fact that Capcom did sequels for games released 10-20 years ago means that Capcom is trying to not let any of their franchises get neglected, despite the fact not all of them sell well. This makes me feel optimistic that Capcom WILL make new Mega Man games in the future, but for now they're content with allowing Mega Man to get more exposure in the meantime, and THAT might actually drive up sales of the games more because more people will know about the games. Genius, Capcom, genius. So I'll be supporting both Mega Man and Mighty No. 9 for years to come. Heck, I wasn't happy myself when Sonic started his solo runs eventually since Sonic's gameplay doesn't appeal to me, but I still wish the series well since I've had good times with the series. I want Mega Man to continue to do well, but with the amount of games that Capcom has done with the series...I imagine Capcom had actually neglected some of their other series in order to do more Mega Man. I think I'm understanding now which side is actually right...
