Well, it's weird, not a surprise?... I hope, if a company buy capcom, it won't be a bad company who dont like megaman...
But are they sold or it's just a possibility for now (if a company has enough money?).
What about Nintendo? xD

Hey why not a development company?
EA likes buying companies!
SEGA acquiring Capcom could be interesting, though.
And Square bought Taito, so why not another arcadey company like Capcom?

Based on what Capcom has been doing lately with mobile games and shit, it wouldn't be surprising if it was bought by one of those korean or chinese mobile companies.

A game company buying Capcom for the sake of getting a hold of its bloated corpse full of IPs would prove counterproductive: it's cheaper to come up with IPs yourself than to buy a whole company just for a couple of IPs. Plus, the three console companies have a possible interest with at least one of Capcom's IPs: Microsoft with Dead Rising, Sony with DMC and Resident Evil, Nintendo with (most likely) Monster Hunter and, in a very remote possibility, the old dead franchises that use to be associated with their history, like Mega Man...so it's up in the air regarding which of the three would be likely to buy Capcom, if we ignore how counterproductive it is to buy a whole company just for IPs (shoutouts to Microsoft and Rare).

Nintendo buying Capcom just for the Mega Man franchise is silly, unless they happen to have a very ballsy (and most likely unprofitable) plan with it AND the other IPs as well. Buying Capcom just to make (more) Mega Man games is plain stupid. Plus, if it is more likely for Nintendo to buy Sega at this point and yet it doesn't, I don't think it's gonna buy Capcom.

I'm gonna call it being an eastern comm. company trying to buy Capcom to get into mobile gaming. The fact that shareholders are willing to sell their shares means that they also believe Capcom, as it stands, is ded.

Yes, a rather unlikely but fair outcome would be that whoevers buys it just starts selling Capcom's IPs separately. Each of the three dominant console gaming companies today would probably give some of Capcom's IPs an added value to them, so that would be smart: ripping Capcom apart, and selling it piece by piece. As long as no western gaming company gets a hold of Mega Man, I'm happy.

Still, this is all elucubration, but based on how willing the shareholders are for selling their stuff, then it's safe to say that Capcom is, if not dead already, doomed.

I really don't want Nintendo to be making Megaman games in fear that they will become to easy and pansy-compatible. Recent Mario games, even Mario Kart 7, have fallen victim to this easiness.

However, I wouldn't lose all hope, considering how A Link Between Worlds was actually pretty damn challenging for a late 2013 game, and they clearly made it difficult to please those Link To The Past fans.

If Nintendo gets their hands on the Mega Man IP, which I find difficult to happen, the historical developers of the Mega Man series will probably pitch some game ideas to them and probably just let them do their thing they're best at.

That's an unlikely scenario tho, as we're implying Capcom will even be sold piece by piece.

It's just a poll but it's funny:
Poll of the Day
If Capcom is to be sold off to another company, who would you most like to see buy them?

The people with stock on them are opening up the IPs for sale

also, I've been thinking, some of the cancelled megaman games were on NINTENDO consoles. megaman legends 3, maverick hunter, universe, all of those nintendo could continue!

I really don't want to see that monstrosity that was maverick hunter see the light of day. Legends even manages to have more in common with the core series than that game did, and Legends was the least Mega Man like game in the series.
