"Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono has revealed in the latest edition of Japanese gaming publication Famitsu that the company won’t greenlight a AAA game sequel without over 2 million sales. Ono says that if a triple A title doesn’t achieve these kind of sales then they reflect on that and use their experience on other games.
“For instance, if a game doesn’t sell over 2 million copies, then we’d have to put the brakes on any plans for a sequel. All that means is that we weren’t capable enough. And all we can do after that is to reflect on the experience, take what we can learn from it, and try to apply those lessons on some other title.”"
I have really a bad feeling about it.....not 1 megaman game did 2 millions units, even EXE 4 or MM2 who did 1 200 000 around....
.____. it's bad.....
I hope they will let us a last chance =(

Seems like further confirmation about what many people already suspected; Capcom's completely focused on trying to make triple A hits, which for them means sure-fire sellers like Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter, Dead Rising, etc. They're making new stuff too, like Deep Down, so it's easy to see that there's not much room for experimenting with less popular retro franchises. At least, not with a large budget; I can imagine Mega Man getting a smaller title in the future but it seems incredibly unlikely they'll ever do anything major with him again.
One thing I am hoping for is all the hubbub surrounding Super Smash Bros. will hopefully make Capcom feel the need to capitalize on Mega Man's new found popularity, and announce SOME kind of new game soon. Heck, a collaborative effort between Nintendo and Capcom to make a new Mega Man game would be ideal. However, maybe with the departure of Inafune, they really have abandoned any ideas of supporting a substantial Mega Man title...

Well, if you compare that, Why doesnt capcom admit, megaman is liked' and can be a good choice to get money ?
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2008/1 ... an_9_sales
and this game:
http://www.vgchartz.com/game/57722/remember-me/
Just lol.... "Remember me" team seemed to had a big budjet to make this game....and 250 000 units around is not big'.... a lot of megaman games did better with low budjet....
A guy told me, Capcom wont continue AAA games who didnt sold more than 2 millions....so yeah, it's only for games like remember me, i think....
Megaman was never a AAA game, people said me, only under....but it did good often (not like mario, but it's not the same story, thing...)
Maybe, we can hope again.... :/ (well, i try).

I always feel weird about games like Remember Me, because a lot of people complain about Capcom and other game companies doing nothing but sequels, but when they try a new IP like Remember Me it doesn't end up selling well. Of course, this is a natural danger for any new IP; people don't know what to expect, and sometimes it's genuinely bad and sometimes it's good but goes unnoticed. I have not personally played Remember Me, so I can't really say where it falls...
I see Mega Man in a similar situation as Konami's Goemon, as they're both cartoon-styled arcade-like games that just don't fit well into the mold of what most major modern games are. What I see when I watch Sony and Microsoft at E3 are first and third person shooters with graphics that lean toward realism, or fantasy games on the level of Dark Souls and Skyrim. While it'd be possible to transform Mega Man or Goemon into one of these types of games, I think many fans would be against the change (not to say that there wouldn't be any fans, but I could definitely see a Bomberman: Act Zero type of response, plus fans like the original art styles!).
The biggest exception of course is Nintendo produced games on Wii U. Those games do continue to have high quality cartoon graphics with classic styled (but still new!) gameplay. This is another reason I think people would like to see Nintendo collaborate with Capcom on a project, since they seem the best equipped for the job.
It's a difficult situation, but I'm hoping for the best too. I would love to be surprised next year at a games conference or on a Nintendo Direct.

Well i have seen the sale of Monster Hunter 3 on 3DS and others, same for street fighter 4, it's huge...
http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=monster+hunter
(specially the 2 first)
But im really impressed by MH, because it's an adventure/action/rpg thing, right?
Well if those licences give to capcom enough money, they wont care about megaman....but i must say, megaman was a lot of simple game but very good game, i mean, it was often 8 boss with some ennemies, Wily stages and others...i mean, it's always the same style, same for ZX...
I think, we need a megaman game, like a MMO or something where the gameplay can be REALLY complexe, not only a mm9 or a new powered up (but i would love it)...and not a fanservice...can be complicate to re-see a new megaman game now...maybe in 2015....the future will say us.
