Will there be a way to lower the difficulty.....
« on: October 04, 2010, 04:28:09 AM »
On the single player?

On the demo, I can get through Cutman's level, but Metalman's level is very impossible for me to achieve a first place in. I know fans of the original Mega Man games like a challenge, but I've never gotten that good at Doom!!!!

BTW, I've showed the SGC demo to all my gaming friends and have gotten an overwhelmingly positive response from them. They're now showing their friends.

Here's hoping your work goes viral, CutmanMike

Nope there's no way to lower the difficulty. You gotta get better!

In the final version it starts easy and gets progressively harder.

i know what you mean cause i couldnt be the 1st at metalmanīs stage too.Just make your way to the 1st place, grab the weapons you feel more confortable with, try to aim better, stay focused, basically, you have to get used to the game and you will eventually get better at it :D
It was hard for me too, expecially getting back to the fact that there was no crossair, and it has been a long time since i last played doom but now i can easily beat in 1st place at all the levels in the demo XD
Remember, practice makes perfect

There IS a crosshair! Go to display options to find it.

Maybe I should default that thing on, so many people are unaware  :geek:

It's best to grab only one or two weapons and exploit the AI's stupidity to beat single player stuff.

That's what's holding this game back.....THE DIFFICULTY!!!

All old school gamers aren't necessarily fans of FPS, only a small % of FPS are into twitch shooters, making it so that a retro-styled twitch shooter not a good idea for the retro-fan (in general).

I've stopped recommending this game to my friends because I can't even get past Cutman's level in the Campaign. I was so much looking forward to playing this game all the way through, but the difficulty holds it back from much of its potential success.

I was going to donate, too, but I can't play 8BMMDM in this condition.

If I'm going to play Mega Man, I'd rather just play the original games; at least they don't beat me up, say "You suck", and the community say "Just get better."

I don't need to get better. The game needs more accessibility!

Sorry, but it needs a option for those who don't want to play a twitch shooter.

Woah!  Hey, that was a pretty blunt way to just shove it into the developers faces!  They worked hard, y'know?

Davey's right, you're being a bit ungrateful here, Boomon.  Especially by saying that you're holding back donations and recommendations as if this is for profit.  The donations pay for the bandwidth that has already been used (especially after today), it's not a nice bonus for CutmanMike.  He just does this because he loves Mega Man and the community behind it, so he made a cool game for people to get together in and enjoy as fans.

Please try to be more constructive with your criticism.  You've made it clear that you're having some difficulty with the game, but the "Deathmatch" in the title and the fact that it is a DOOM mod should have clued you into the nature of the game.  Either get comfortable with the game and learn to play it, try making your own modifications if you think you can improve it, or write your criticisms with more care and less threats.  If you can't do any of those then you might want to reconsider posting at all.

Also keep in mind, MM8BDM is more less designed for multiplayer. The campaign is a nice addition, but don't hold the game back for an aspect that wasn't the main attraction.

Though, I also understand that for some people, the campaign is and should be an important aspect of the overall experience. The most important thing to remember is that Cutty developed it for free. He's giving it to us for free. The team put in a lot of effort to bring this to life. There will be fan mods for it, since Doom is just so easy to mod for.

Just wait a bit before storming off due to one aspect of this great game

There's absolutely no campaign or story at all in Team Fortress 2, and people have been playing it for years.

This is so much more fun, to me. I'd recommend it to my friends but I haven't heard from them since high school, and besides, half of them don't know how to run a computer, so whatever, haha.

I will have to say that I do apologize for even mentioning withholding donations when, in hindsight, I will donate anyway for a great effort.

It's just I don't think single player should be slapped onto a game without any thought to difficulty levels. Most people who I recommend this game may or may not be playing online with others, or may be just a fan of retro.

Maybe I'll get more enjoyment playing this game online instead of in the Campaign, but the Campaign is still flawed because you can choose the level of difficulty that best fits your own level of play.

Is the diffulty in 8BMMDM unchangeable due to being built on the Skulltag mod?
