What do you guys think of "scheduling" servers?

This thread reeks of people trying to make others stop playing what they want to so they're arbitrarily forced/incentivized to play the poster's favored mode. That never works, not to mention how selfish it is. You can't make people do what they don't want to, and we've all found first-hand that assembling a group to "schedule fun" does not work in practice. If you truly can't sell people on a mode enough for it to be played, either in-or-outside of the current playerbase, it's probably a dead mode, sorry.

If people thought like that, they wouldn't be keeping on about how so-and-so gamemodes are "cancer and need to die."

I already get that you can't force someone off of something they like, and I'm not going for that. The problem I have is that I hear enough from people about stuff like this, yet if it were such a problem, something would've or should've been done by now.

The people that like those modes outnumber those that don't.  I'm one of those that isn't too fond of all the different servers with 5+ unique mods in each but I'm also not motivated enough to figure out how to host a server and gather the few people who want to play base game stuff.

I think i'll go with the "hosts should take their severs down for X time" I wouldn't force it but it would be nice to get a break from YD/Saxton Unholy/Wily inc etc

No no, you misunderstood. I suggest the HOSTS by their OWN choice to take down/put up game mods not taking this choice to the people. because really... YD looks strong right now.

Saying that because the same people suggesting break time are the ones filling YD almost every night. If we are gonna call Saxton and Unholy are cancer recently that too fits the bill

In regard to the topic, I'd love to try out this idea, but I'd have to advise caution with making a skype group. No matter how well structured it is, things can get pretty ugly with the discussion in the blink of an eye. It'd have to be well monitored and have a set of rules in place. It can't just be a group solely for the purpose of casual discussion.

Even if you let it go to the hosts hands, that's not to say you can force players to participate in the servers. If you really wanna play other game mods that badly, there's always the option of using Best-Ever or port forwarding to host your own game for friends and such.

I agree with this. In my opinion, if you try to force the game modes you want played upon other people that's just going to lead to an empty server list, or just a lot of servers with passwords on them so that nobody can play in general.

Then if that's the case, if you aren't trying to shamelessly plug more people into Justified servers, why don't we get rid of those too? Obviously a lot of people play them still or the mod wouldn't be updated like it is.

AGAIN when did I say anything about JC? Are you telling me that Saxton, Unholy and YD are the only ones to ever play? Or are you both bawwing hard because I pointed out that YD is blocking the sun along with Saxton and Unholy? Yea I like JC so what? I'm I telling people to go there? What I'm saying is suggest "break" time or "change of mod" time to any guy that's hosting some big sever. ASK them not FORCE them if thats what they want to do. If they want to thats cool, if they don't thats fine.

Noone here has to do anything without them wanting to. The purpose of this topic is to see if the server hosts will comply with a modest proposition to change things up. You know, since the server hosts are Cutstuff community members that actively browse and participate on the forums.
