Auto-save lost/not working?
« on: October 16, 2010, 02:18:50 PM »
I had made it partway into chapter 3 when my game slowed to a crawl and I had to end task.

Upon reloading the game the teleporter only wants to take me to the MM1 chapter again. This is upsetting!

I don't know what happened, but by any chance is there a save file someone could send or some config file I could edit to restore my progress?

I really don't have the energy to retread that much old ground, I'm too bad at this game, haha

Step into the teleporter and then press (strafe)left/right to select a chapter

Unfortunately, the only way the game actually auto-saves where you are is if you stop playing.  If you have to forcefully close the game (as you did), you will lose all progress made.  A similar thing happen when I went from Chapter 4 to the last level to Chapter 6 and the game crashed. (It was my fault.  I was messing around with the game.  Heh.)  When I came back in, Chapters 5 and 6 were locked again because the game doesn't really auto-save until you stop playing.

What does "stop playing" mean in this context? I've quit via the menu's exit choice, and it still hasn't saved my progress.

Okay.  To be very specific, the game saves when you've beaten a chapter boss, then quit the game via the menu.  It only saves if you beat a chapter boss then quit the game normally.  You cannot save in the middle of a chapter, you will not save if you crash.

Well, I've proved I'm an addict and went and beat the game anyway, so I suppose it's a moot point for me, haha.

(It was worth it)
